The FIBA Intercontinental Cup will move to Asia (Singapore) for the next three years (until 2025). In addition, this competition will change format to host six teams and one of them will be a representative of the Chinese League. The Lenovo Tenerife is the current champion of the tournament.
From September 21 to 24, 2023the Singapore Sports Hub Asian pavilion will host the FIBA Intercontinental Cup where there will be a adaptation in the change of calendar to acclimatize to the different national and continental leagues.

Besides, participants will grow from four to six teams. The reigning champions of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), the Basketball Champions League, the Basketball Champions League Americas and the NBA G League, as well as a team from China and a sixth participant who will be unknown.
Andreas Zagklis, FIBA Secretary General, explained the expansion: “This agreement serves both as the realization of a basketball dream that goes back generations, as well as a launching pad into the future of club basketball. Singapore, as a melting pot, is an ideal place to bring that vision to life.”

On the other hand, Mark Tatum, NBA director of operations, stated that the FIBA Intercontinental Cup is a Good showcase for teams competing outside of the NBA: “We are thrilled to see NBA G League Ignite and the African Basketball League season three champions represented at this year’s tournament in Singapore, where they recently opened an office and where there is a growing affinity for our sport.”
