South African athlete Oscar Pistorius could be released from prison “in coming weeks” after serving only half of his sentence, according to a report collected by the British press.
The former Paralympic athlete was sentenced to 13 years and five months in jail for the murder of his girlfriend, the model Reeva Steenkamp, at his home in South Africa over a decade ago.
As collected by the Mirroron March 31, a parole board in South Africa will consider the case and could grant you an early release.
Pistorius shot his girlfriend four times, claiming that he mistook her for a thief at his home in Pretoria, South Africa.
The parents of the late model, Barry and June Steenkampthey cannot appeal the decision, as all offenders are eligible for parole after serving half their sentence.

Speaking on the 10th anniversary of their daughter’s murder, the Steenkamps said they initially forgave the athlete, but since he refused to admit he deliberately shot the young womanvehemently oppose his early release.
“I told Oscar directly that I had deliberately shot my daughter and he denied it. He stuck to his story that he thought he was an intruder.”said Barry Steenkamp.
“After all these years, we’re still waiting for him to admit that he did it in anger. That’s all we wanted“adds the victim’s father.
During the trial it was revealed that Pistorius was a gun fanatic that he once fired one in a restaurant and that he owned 10 firearms, including an AK-47 assault rifle.
Steenkamp’s parents have always maintained that their daughter was deliberately shot to death because Reeva tried to end the relationship and he attacked her when she tried to leave the apartment, to later shoot her dead when the model took refuge in the bathroom.
